November 4, 2016 I spent a beautiful morning at Tataragawa Estuary behind a blind to get these pictures and video. I was happy to see that the spoonbills had returned, along with the ever present great cormorants. They generally tolerate each others presence, but sometimes they get in squabbles over prime perching space. It is good to know that the endangered black-faced spoonbill population is slowly increasing due to the efforts of people along their migration route and wintering/breeding sites in Japan, Korea, and China.
